Fat transfer is a procedure whereby fat is (abdomen, buttocks, thighs are typical areas) and into other parts of the body. Several tablespoons of fat are removed through a micro-liposuction technique. Common areas of filling include the nasolabial folds, lips, cheeks, temple, below the eyes, the chin and jaws. The back of the hands is also treated to correct the natural aging and thinning process. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. Some swelling and bruising may be present for a week. Fat that is left over from the initial harvesting is frozen and used for future use if further treatments are required. Typically, another session is performed in a few months.
